가와사키의 Z1000은 스트라이프 도색만 봐도 알 수 있듯이 스포츠바이크 성격이 강한 스트리트파이터 모델이다. 기존 Z1000 모델이 정말 빠르다는 평가를 받았었는데 2010 버젼은 여기에 좀 더 쉬운 컨트롤, 재미와 감동? 정도가 플러스 되었다고 보면 될 것이다.
Z1000의 날카로운 디자인은 바이크를 좀 더 세련되 보이게 해주며, 색상은 Metallic Spark Black과 Pearl Stardust White 중 선택할 수 있다.

엔진은 이전의 ZX-9R이나 기존 Ninja ZX-10R의 것과는 별개로 가와사키에서 직접 개발한 1043cc 수냉식 In-line Four 엔진을 사용한다. 피스톤 스트로크가 추가 되었지만 크기는 거의 같고, 내부 카운터 밸런서가 엔진의 진동을 감소시켜준다.
Z1000의 서스펜션은 브레이킹과 코너링시 아주 훌룡한 밸런스를 보여주고, 특히 리어 서스펜션은 울퉁불퉁한 길에서도 거의 충격을 주지 않아 아주 편안한 라이딩을 즐길 수 있다고 한다.
